In Prague, the number of apartments for short term stay
explodes. Business and holiday travelers are more interested in rental of furnished
apartments than in staying in simple hotel rooms.
Apartments in Prague have been around for years on the rental market and
are a cozy for long journeys. But now tourists begin increasingly using this
type of accommodation for short stays. The economic crisis may be the
source of this new phenomenon, since inquiring travelers realize that
apartments are more spacious, more intimate and better equipped at a better price in comparison to Prague hotels.
Large hotel groups in Prague have recognized this trend and, without
abandoning their normal activities, many of them are opening new serviced
furnished apartments in Prague.
They are using all kinds of names for their facilities: long-term
hotel, apart-hotel, serviced apartments, or residence. Companies
specialized in apartments rentals in Prague, argue that the case had
never been
successful, privately owned apartments by locals in Prague are more
preferred by tourists than those fake "private" apartments owned by
hotels in Prague.
New apartments are opening in Prague regularly.
According to a recent study published by the Institute of Travel
Management, nearly 50% of business travelers feel that apartments
are equipped with a serious alternative to hotels for their stay in Prague. When
asked why they opted for this formula, 42% of them explained that they
use the traditional way (stays of five days or more), 29% for savings and 24% consider it an alternative to Prague hotels .
Travel agencies are also
expressing a growing interest in serviced apartments in Prague. The
number of
business travelers staying in this type of apartments is constantly
growing because they offer more interesting value for money. It is also
a more suitable form for some travelers (especially single women) who
do not wish
to dine alone in restaurants. Increasingly equipped apartments in
Prague are
available, and each day we receive more requests for Prague Old Town,
the Wenceslas Square and the Lesser Town, where hotel rates are
particularly high.
Most
travel agencies are targeting the high-end market, with a majority of
four-stars category. The business
community is just beginning to understand the benefits of fully
equipped apartments in Prague compared to hotels, particularly in terms of
prices: for long stays, the difference reaches 30%.
